Shinnecock Residence

Location: Southampton, New York
Team: Bates Masi; Men at Work

This project transforms a 7.5-acre property from a mono-culture lawn to a native meadow with glades of trees and drifts of salt tolerant shrubs that protect the property from inundation.

This multi-generation residence sits on a Shinnecock Bay peninsula. Arrival to the property is defined by an entry drive that passes through a vertical steel gate and into a white oak grove. The arrival courtyard features a single specimen tree in a simple plane of groundcover. The interior of the home opens out to expansive stone terraces that include a pool and spa, an outdoor dining area, a reflecting pool, and a heath and heather garden.
