Bucks County Residence
Location: Richland, Pennsylvania
Team: Architecture Research Office
This private residence engages views of the surrounding meadow and fields in rural Bucks County, PA. The owners resided in a 200 year old home on the property but desired a way to age in place. They subdivided the lot so that they could continue to enjoy the sounds, features, and smells familiar to them, but live in a more practical manner.
The house embraces agrarian features by aligning with an existing barn and proposing an orchard frame the arrival court. Exterior spaces such as a terrace, and pool area are immediately accessible to allow the couple to comfortably age-in-place. Subtle and precise grading situate the building on a sloping site. The site walls is reinforce the pin-wheel organization of the house.
